👤 Main Characters

  • Captain Maksim Mikhailovich Rukov was born on January 12, 1966, in Sverdlovsk. His parents, Mikhail Stepanovich Rukov and Svetlava Shailova, were killed in an Afghan terrorist attack in Dushanbe (Tajik SSR) on May 23, 1983, while his father was on active duty. Maksim is fluent in English, Arabic, and Spanish, and joined the Spetsnaz as a paratrooper in 1988. The game begins as he takes his first steps in Department P.
  • Uncle Vanya, Maksim’s paternal uncle, was also injured in the attack and now uses a wheelchair. Despite this, he remains a caring guardian to Maksim, though he harbors suspicions about Maksim’s new employers. (His name is a nod to Anton Chekhov’s play Uncle Vanya.)
  • Major Vovlov is Maksim’s direct superior at Department P. Known for his bad temper and authoritarian style, he commands respect and fear.
  • Colonel Viktor Galushkin works at Department P and had a personal connection to Maksim’s father. He has a history of pursuing the men responsible for his assassination.
  • Major Radomir Savinkov serves as Maksim’s controller in Leningrad and is a highly intelligent member of Department P.
  • Colonel Vladimir Kusnetsov leads KGB’s Department 7 in Leningrad and is openly hostile towards Department P.
  • Captain Piotr Chapkin works under Colonel Kusnetsov at Department 7 and is his son-in-law.
  • Major Grigori Agabekov is the second-in-command at Department 7. A veteran of Afghanistan, he has an unblemished record and a strong reputation.
  • Nathaniel Greenberg and Carla Wallace are American CIA agents who find themselves working on the same case as Maksim.
